We offer both 200-hour foundational (RYT200) and 300-hour next-level (RYT500) vinyasa yoga teacher training immersions in Costa Rica and Europe. Our mission is to educate and empower our students while building a global community of change makers.
We are a portal for personal development, empowerment, and optimal well-being. We emphasize living yoga; experiential education; healthy & conscious relationship to food including farm-to-table, plant-based gourmet cuisine; global exploration & adventure; art, design & culture; and integrative medicine as pillars of a healthy, balanced, and enjoyable lifestyle. Our approach is eco-friendly, socially conscious, sustainable, and green, so that we make the world a better, brighter place through our actions and consumer choices. We deeply believe in having fun.
Lakshmi Rising was created by Dr. Liz Lindh and includes diverse partners and collaborators from across traditions and around the world. We bring together multidisciplinary wellness expertise—all so that our global community can educate, empower, and evolve through movement, breath, meditation, emotional intelligence and social responsibility. We embrace the healing power of food through Gaia Gourmet’s high-vibration, nutrient-dense vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free gourmet cuisine.
What style of yoga is taught in Lakshmi Rising's Yoga Teacher Training?
The Lakshmi Rising lineage draws from many traditions and emphasizes more than the physical practice of yoga. We do not view yoga as a performance art nor as a competitive sport. We practice & teach yoga as an internal, healing and personal discipline. Lakshmi Rising Vinyasa Yoga is a creative & intentional practice that includes dynamic asana, mindful & fluid sequencing for injury prevention, purposeful pranayama, meditation & mantra, chanting, dance and ritual for optimal well-being, spiritual growth and self awareness. This yoga is accessible to everyone. All body types, fitness levels, ages, genders, socio-economic representations, races, and any other affiliations are welcome…as long as you come with an open mind.
Our founder and director, Dr Liz Lindh, studied directly with TKV Desikachar, and carries on the vinyasa lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya, considered by many to be the father of modern yoga. The Lakshmi Rising method is unique in the way that we fuse current research in the fields of exercise science, physical therapy, neuro-science, mind-body psychology and epi-genetics with the time-tested tradition of classical yoga. This is a modern and informed relationship with yoga that is relevant to the current challenges we face in todays industrialized civilization.
The Lakshmi Rising curriculum is focused on:
- the vinyasa lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya taught directly from his son TKV Desikachar, Shiva Rea, and many other wonderful but lesser well known teachers
- classical tantra passed down through the teachings of Sri Kapilnath, Sri Mahendranath, and Dr. Robert Svoboda
- the philosophy of 5 Rhythms taught directly by creator Gabrielle Roth and her son Jonathan Horan
- classical Pilates in the direct lineage of Joseph Pilates through instructor Junya Tanner
Our asana practice is Hatha Vinyasa based: Vinyasa meaning the sacred integration of breath, movement and focus, Hatha is a Sanskrit word that means forceful or tenacious which connects us to the classical yoga tradition. Within this well-rounded Hatha Vinyasa Flow training, you will gain an understanding of personalized & accessible alignment, creative & intelligent sequencing with an emphasis on fluid transitions between postures, core-based strength building exercises, circulation of Prana (life force), and how to create an energizing, restorative and/or revitalizing flow class.
We explore yogic philosophy from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Ayurveda, principles from classical Tantra, Vedic mythology, teachings from both ancient and modern mystery schools, as well as western anatomy & physiology, chakras, pressure points, common cautions and contra-indications including trauma, use of language for effective cueing, the effects of music, and how to weave a theme into a class to make the experience cohesive and impactful.
Why choose a Yoga Teacher Training immersion with Lakshmi Rising?
Yoga Teacher Training’s have begun to sprout in vast, increasing numbers across the globe, from India to Indiana. It is inspiring to witness the teachings of yoga become more accessible and popular. It has also become even more necessary to be clear and discerning about where you take your training, from whom, and what they are offering. This is why it is important for us to let you know our story and intention, so that you can choose a training that resonates with you and get the most out of your experience.
Program creator, Dr Liz Lindh, began practicing yoga in 1995 and took her first 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2000. She has been learning, developing and teaching since then. She co-created and led her first yoga alliance approved 200-hour training in 2011 and has been refining this curriculum ever since. Our highly experienced and well educated team of teachers provide personal connection and informed perspective on all things yoga. We also know when to say “I don’t know” and to be open to the many parallel truths that exist in the vast tradition of yoga.
If you are interested in becoming a fully qualified yoga teacher, our training will prepare you with the complete toolkit you’ll need to achieve your dream. So yes…at the end of our YTT you will absolutely receive a Yoga Alliance credentialed certificate that enables and empowers you to teach any where in the world if you choose to do so. However, we also want you to come away with so much more than that. We offer you a transformational experience curated for mental, physical, emotional and spiritual engagement.
Our intention is to create authentic Yogi’s, so no matter if you want to teach or not, you will leave our holistic training experience fully equipped with perspectives and techniques you can integrate into every aspect of your life. Our hope is that your entire being becomes touched by the enlightening wisdom of yoga, and emanates into everything you do.
Lakshmi Rising’s Yoga Teacher Training certification immersion gives you two or three weeks to focus on your yoga practice—moving, learning, asking questions, and discussing a wide range of interesting topics with curious, open people from around the world without the inevitable distractions and compartmentalization of life at home. It is a time for you learn about foundational and complex aspects of yoga that are often impossible to cover in a studio or on-line scenario, all the while enjoying life, cultivating yourself and making new friends in a beautiful setting. Participating in our 200- or 300-hour YTT at an international locale also offers the rare opportunity to step away from your responsibilities of everyday life and to let us nourish & take care of you. Our immersions are all-inclusive, you just need to get yourself to us and we will take care of the rest. Gaia Gourmet cuisine nourishes us with next level, world-class vegetarian meals available for you to enjoy for breakfast, lunch & dinner each day (except on excursion days).
Travel with Liz and Chef Naga to a magical villa in Italy; a sophisticated hacienda in Costa Rica; follow your vinyasa with vin rouge in a breathtaking chateau amidst the Pyrenees mountains and vineyards of the Ariege region in the South of France, or sun it up on the beach outside of Barcelona, Spain. We take good care of you!
What qualifications or prerequisites do I need for Lakshmi Rising’s Yoga Teacher Training certification program?
The most important thing you will need is an open, willing, and curious mind! To participate in any of our trainings you do not need an athletic or advanced physical practice, nor experience with meditation, anatomy, or philosophy. We cover all of that! Of course, the more experience you have as a student and practitioner of yoga, the more you will have to offer as a teacher.

There are no formal requirements or pre-requisites to attend our 200-hour YTT or culinary training. Our programs are beneficial to everyone, novice and well seasoned alike. A 200-hour yoga instructor certification is a foundational program that covers the fundamentals of teaching yoga. We teach you how to practice and how to teach what you practice.
Participation in our 300-hour YTT requires prior completion of a 200-hour YTT (either through Lakshmi Rising or another school in any tradition) or equivalent experience in teaching yoga. No prior teaching experience is required.
If you do have an extreme physical limitation, please discuss with us what your special needs are and we can determine the best way to accommodate you. Because this is a group setting, we cannot always provide intense personalized attention at all times but we can work with you ahead of time so that you feel prepared to modify the practices in realtime.
Remember that the study of yoga is a lifelong journey. We are here to guide and support you wherever you may be on your path. All are welcome.
How many students are in each Yoga Teacher Training certification program?
In Costa Rica we accommodate up to 16 students and in Europe up to 20 students, who may be a mix of 200 and 300-hour YTTs and retreat participants. This is ideal to form a wonderfully intimate group, as well as receive quality, hands-on attention from your instructors.
What is the typical age and gender of your participants? Where are they from?
Our Yoga Teacher Training programs attract people from all around the world. They generally range in age from 20 to 65. Most participants identify as women, but all are welcome. Instruction and readings are in English.
Are required books and other materials included in the tuition cost? Will they be available on-site?
No. You are responsible for purchasing your required books and supplies (pens, notebooks, etc.) before arrival and bringing them with you to our magical oasis. Books are not available nearby. As part of the tuition, you will receive a hard copy of our extensive Yoga Teacher Training manual, a required course text.
What is included in the tuition cost?
In addition to our amazing and interesting curriculum, 580+ page training manual and professional certification, your tuition includes luxurious lodging with bed and bath linens changed weekly, basic housekeeping, laundry service or self-serve laundry (depending on location) 2x during your stay, three organic gourmet vegetarian or vegan meals each program day (except on arrival, departure and excursion days), unlimited coffee, an assortment of teas, fruit for snacking, and concierge services to help you with travel logistics. Each location has unique additional amenities and experiences, but there are no hidden costs. Lakshmi Rising trainings are priced to be affordable without sacrificing quality. Keep in mind that during your time with us, you will not be incurring your usual expenses for food, coffee, entertainment, and transportation!
You will need to pay for all transportation to and from our locations & excursions, required textbooks and supplies, off-site meals and excursions, Yoga Alliance membership fees, staff gratuities, and any spa services you wish to enjoy.
Are your Yoga Teacher Training Programs approved by the Yoga Alliance?
Yes! You will be eligible to submit your certificate to the Yoga Alliance to be approved as a registered yoga teacher (RYT) at the 200 or 500-hour level.
What is the Yoga Alliance?
The Yoga Alliance is an international credentialing organization, established in 1999, that sets standards for yoga teachers and teacher trainings. While not required by law, many studios and potential employers look for teachers with Yoga Alliance certification. You can learn more here.
Will I be qualified to teach once I complete your Yoga Teacher Training ?
Yes! In the 200-hour program we focus on how to teach as much as on mastering the material. The 300-hour program deepens this engagement and is ideal for current teachers who seek additional professional development.
Do you offer financial aid or work-exchange programs?
Unfortunately, not at this time. We do offer early-bird discounts, and encourage you to register early, flights will also be less expensive.
Will there be free time for excursions during the training?
Our daily YTT schedule is full and rich with yoga, lectures, hands-on learning, meditation, creative projects, reading, writing, discussions, and more—this is why we call it a training intensive rather than a yoga retreat. That said, we will have one day each week for relaxation on the property or off-premise excursion. We recommend staying in your chosen country after your YTT if you would like to enjoy tourist activities or visit friends.
What if I miss some class time, can I still complete the Yoga Teacher Training?
Lakshmi Rising’s YTTs exceed the required contact hours set forth by the Yoga Alliance as a residential immersion program, so minor mishaps are not likely to cause problems. You will, however, be required to submit writing assignments (500 words per hour missed) to demonstrate your understanding of any topics that you miss. Additional private instruction may be available, at a fee, through our Wellness Network, if you fall significantly behind or want additional support.
What is your refund policy?
Retreat and Training Refund Policy:
We understand that these are trying and uncertain times. We are wholeheartedly here to support your growth and transformation on a deep and personal level and do not want to jeopardize your search for being a force for positive change within yourself, your family, and your community.
Although we do not offer any refunds for any reason, if you are unable to attend your yoga teacher training program, yoga retreat or Gaia Gourmet Culinary Training, you can transfer your payment up until 30 days before your start date to a future retreat or training in any of our locations (depending on availability). The new training must be within 18 months of your original training start date. You may have to pay any increase in price, should our advertised prices be different at the time of the re-scheduling. You will not be eligible to apply for any early-bird rate should you need to change dates into the future. All locations have different room options, you may not be able to receive the same room accommodations with a transfer request, nor are there any partial refunds if your room option price has lowered due to the transfer. We hope you will join us to cultivate optimal health and wellness. Namaste.
Note: Should Lakshmi Rising and Gaia Gourmet feel the need to change retreat venues, for any reason whatsoever, in order to protect the interest of the training, students, and/or faculty, they may do so without notice.
The Impossibility of Performance – Force Majeure
I agree that Lakshmi Rising, Gaia Gourmet, or Stay Well Lifestyle LLC and their agents, will not be liable should my attendance to a training or retreat be hindered in the event of Acts of God; such as, but not limited to: fires; volcanoes; adverse weather conditions such as earthquakes, tidal waves, and floods; strikes or blockades; government orders; global pandemics; airport closures; flight cancelations; or other circumstances beyond our control.

Please note that our Yoga Teacher Trainings are PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INTENSIVES designed to teach you how to teach the practices of yoga. You will spend a lot of time in meditation, in movement, in silence, in lecture, in nature, with others in community, and with the eight limbs of yoga through an inclusive and classical tantrik lens. You will be invited to use these tools as support through any emotional and mental discomfort that may surface as you explore internal landscapes. It may be challenging at times. We have witnessed and guided hundreds of students through this beautiful process. The system works. Inspiring results come from the energy one invests.
This is a professional training and NOT a personal therapy intensive or detoxification program (from recreational or pharmaceutical drugs). While we are committed to introducing authentic yoga and self-study techniques, this program should not be taken as a personal therapeutic intensive if you are expecting or in need of professional psychological or medical support.
Our faculty and staff are not trained psychiatrists and do not carry clinical backgrounds in PTSD, addiction, sexual abuse counseling, or other mental health concerns. If you have a history of PTSD or extreme drug use, it is important that you arrive to our program in a stable state with the intention of using the practices of yoga for self -regulation and personal spiritual growth. If you are seeking more personalized therapeutic support, we advise you to make that therapy your priority before attending an intensive yoga teacher training immersion.
